Group Pitch
Each of the locations have different factors that we liked for the setting of out thriller opening. The locations we looked at were all isolated which sets the tone of a thriller opening. The locations we took pictures of were alleys, garages, motorway and a bush. These locations will help to create the feel of a thriller when we are filming.

Iconic Thriller Directors
During the 1920's to 1940's there where three major film makers in the thriller genre. The first Alfred Hitchcock, the second Fritz Lang and the third George Cukor.

Gaslight was one of most famous pscyological thrillers, made in 1944. It was about a scheming husband plotting to make his innocent young wife go insane in order for him to acquire her inheritance. The thriller genre helped to create suspence and shock at the plot of the film and throughout. This film is what made Cukor a iconic thriller directer as it was based on Gas Light by
Patrick Hamilton.

BBFC stands for the British board of film classification. There job is to give a film the correct certificate for the images used in the film. They do this to protect vulnerable viewers from the effect of potentially harmful of unsuitable content. They provide media industries with set publicity trusted regulations.
There are 7 different age ratings that could be put on to a film: U, PG, 12, 12A, 15, 18 and R18. The following pages set out guidance on how the main issues (for example, sex and violence) are specifically applied from ‘U’ through to ‘R18’.
'U' is universal which is suitable for all. A film rated U should be suitable for children aged 4 and over. U films should have a positive moral framework and for any horror, threat or violence will have a reassuring counterbalance.
A 'PG' rating is meant for parents guidance to be given before being shown to the child. A PG film should not disturb a child around the age of 8 or older. However it is up to the parent to decide if children younger are allowed to watch it or not.
The ‘12’ category exists only for video works. No one younger than 12 may rent or buy a ‘12’ rated video work. And when viewing if under the age of 12 it is the responsibilities of the adult to decideif they can watch it or not.
The ‘12A’ category exists only for cinema films. No one younger than 12 may see a ‘12A’ film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult, as films classified ‘12A’ are not recommended for a child below 12. An adult may take a younger child if, in their judgement, the film is suitable for that particular child the responsibilities lies with the accompanying adult.
A film rated 15 is suitable to be viewed by a person 15 years or older. No one younger than 15 may see a ‘15’ film in a cinema or rent or buy a ‘15’ rated video work.
A film rated 18 should only be seen by 18 years or older. No-one younger than 18 may see an ‘18’ film in a cinema or rent or buy an ‘18’ rated video. In line with the consistent findings of the BBFC’s public consultations and The Human Rights Act 1998, at ‘18’ the BBFC’s guideline concerns will not normally override the principle that adults should be free to choose their own entertainment.
A R18 is restricted and is only allowed to be shown in specially liciensed cinemas or supplied only in licensed sex shops, and to adults of not less than 18 years.

Sub-genres of thriller
Thriller is a genre of itself but it also consists of sub-genres. The thriller genre can be broken down into 13 different sub genres.
Action-adventure thriller
This is about a mystery lost in time the action adventure thriller brings back childhood memories. They consist of lost archaeological sites this is a hard sub genre of thriller to write as it requires alot of action in the film. An example of this is Clive Cusslers film Sahara.

A crime thriller focuses on the criminal rather then a police man. It offers an account of suspenseful success of crimes. This sub genre of thriller emphasise action over the psychological affect of the film. An example of this is Seven written by Andrew Kevin walker.
Conspiracy Thriller
A conspiracy thriller is about a hero or heroine who confronts a large and or powerful group of enemies. Who only they see their true colours of the group. An example of this type of film is snake eyes by David Koepp.
This film is a combination of erotica (literature, photography, sculpture and paintings) and thriller. This type of film uses sexual description to help create the sub genre thriller film. An example of a film like this is basic instinct by Paul Verhoeven.
Legal Thriller
This film is about a lawyer, hero or heroine who confronts the enemy outside of the courtroom. Which leaves them in danger of losing not only the case but their life as well. An example of a legal film is The runaway jury by John Grisham
Political Thriller
A political thriller has a hero or heroine who ensures stability of the government that employs them. An example of a political thriller is Seven days in May by Fletcher Knebel.
Rape and Revenge Films
These films are exploitation films which uses the elements of suspense, tension and fast pace action through out the film. An exmaple of this type of sub genre is I spit on your grave by Meir Zarchi.
These films use otherwordly elements to create tension and suspence with sudden twists throughout. The hero/heroine or villain has a psychic abilty giving them an advantage. An example of this type of film is The dead zone by Jeffrey Boam.
Psychological Thriller
A psychological thriller is where there is a conflict mentally and emotional between the main characters. They rely on there mental strengths and resources. A film liek this generally ends in a violent resolution. An example of this type of film is Suspicion by Alfred Hitchcock.
Medical Thriller
This film is based around medicine that can potenital save peoples lives but instead changes into something that kills. Example of this type of film is Crisis:Books by Robin Cook.
Disaster Thriller
A disaster film is set around a natural disater (tornado, dam bursting, sinking ship) which affects alot of people. An example of a film like this is Deep Fathom by James Rollins.
Historical Thriller
A historical thriller is set in the past and is generally paired up with another sub genre to create the best film possible. This type of thriller sub genre is very hard to write. An example of a historical thriller is Black order by James Rollins.
Religious Thriller
A religious thriller is about a rich and long history about religion with high stakes and deadly politics. An example of this type of film is Map of bones by James Rollins.

What are the conventions of appropriate music/sound?
Appropriate music/sound in a horror film needs to give out tension and needs to be passy when appropriate. To make the audience feel suspense and makes you more engaged with the film.What information is it giving you about the characters & story?
The music in the film gives you information about the character and the story, because the music sets the mood when it is needed. For example when you have a mysterious character coming into the film or somthing bad is going to happern mysterouse sound/music starts to come on and tension in the music builds up. It gives you information that the film is a thriller and the character is mysterious.
What information is it giving you about the mood?
The sound gives information that the mood of the film is going to change. passy music gives a mood of a rush and something is going to happen this causes tention. slow mysterious music gives out that the mood has changed to a creepy, suspense mood. Different types of music in a thriller film gives out different moods.
In thrillers you would normally hear Gun shots, phones, scratchy noises, and classical instrumental music.

Basic Editing
I researched basic editing, i looked at what Batch Capture is, Basic editing and cutting and the effects i could use.
Batch capture
A feature in editing programs that allows the system to capture lists or batches of clips from source videotapes.
i found a video explain how to use batch capture

i looked at the different effects on final cut
the effects i can use on our film is sound effects, visual effects and special effects, like black and white ect.

6 ways to kill your husband plot
A woman just married is deeply in love with new husband but before long there marriage turn bad. Her life is turned upside down as she finds out shes not the one only hes married too. She teams up with his other wives to get him back. They plan 6 ways to get him back all ending in death for him. 5 of the plans hurts and destroys him emotionally but does not end in death. As they try the 6th and final plan all is to play for.
