Action-adventure thriller
This is about a mystery lost in time the action adventure thriller brings back childhood memories. They consist of lost archaeological sites this is a hard sub genre of thriller to write as it requires alot of action in the film. An example of this is Clive Cusslers film Sahara.
Crime Thriller
A crime thriller focuses on the criminal rather then a police man. It offers an account of suspenseful success of crimes. This sub genre of thriller emphasise action over the psychological affect of the film. An example of this is Seven written by Andrew Kevin walker.
Conspiracy Thriller
A conspiracy thriller is about a hero or heroine who confronts a large and or powerful group of enemies. Who only they see their true colours of the group. An example of this type of film is snake eyes by David Koepp.
This film is a combination of erotica (literature, photography, sculpture and paintings) and thriller. This type of film uses sexual description to help create the sub genre thriller film. An example of a film like this is basic instinct by Paul Verhoeven.
Legal Thriller
This film is about a lawyer, hero or heroine who confronts the enemy outside of the courtroom. Which leaves them in danger of losing not only the case but their life as well. An example of a legal film is The runaway jury by John Grisham
Political Thriller
A political thriller has a hero or heroine who ensures stability of the government that employs them. An example of a political thriller is Seven days in May by Fletcher Knebel.
Rape and Revenge Films
These films are exploitation films which uses the elements of suspense, tension and fast pace action through out the film. An exmaple of this type of sub genre is I spit on your grave by Meir Zarchi.
These films use otherwordly elements to create tension and suspence with sudden twists throughout. The hero/heroine or villain has a psychic abilty giving them an advantage. An example of this type of film is The dead zone by Jeffrey Boam.
Psychological Thriller
A psychological thriller is where there is a conflict mentally and emotional between the main characters. They rely on there mental strengths and resources. A film liek this generally ends in a violent resolution. An example of this type of film is Suspicion by Alfred Hitchcock.
Medical Thriller
This film is based around medicine that can potenital save peoples lives but instead changes into something that kills. Example of this type of film is Crisis:Books by Robin Cook.
Disaster Thriller
A disaster film is set around a natural disater (tornado, dam bursting, sinking ship) which affects alot of people. An example of a film like this is Deep Fathom by James Rollins.
Historical Thriller
A historical thriller is set in the past and is generally paired up with another sub genre to create the best film possible. This type of thriller sub genre is very hard to write. An example of a historical thriller is Black order by James Rollins.
Religious Thriller
A religious thriller is about a rich and long history about religion with high stakes and deadly politics. An example of this type of film is Map of bones by James Rollins.
